Author Guidelines
- Original research and review are both acceptable. The manuscript shall ensure that there are no political, no plagiarism, no leakage problems. The views are innovative, clear. The language is logical. The data is true, reliable and accurate. Inadequately or incorrectly prepared typescripts may be rejected.
- All spellings must be rendered in American English. To change British or Commonwealth spellings to their American equivalents, please see the Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary.
- Only one submission by an author will be considered at a time.
- Articles and features are double-blind reviewed and therefore these papers must be anonymized.
- Each submission (from introduction to conclusion, not including references) is usually about 8,000~10,000 words. Any manuscript submitted that, in the opinion of the Editor, is too long will be returned to the corresponding author for redrafting within a suggested maximum wordage.
- The submission should have Chinese and English title, authors and unit, abstract about 300~500 words in both English and Chinese, 3 ~ 8 Chinese and English keywords.
- The submission can include files such as graphs and images. Graphics should be in JPEG, GIF, PNG or TIFF format. Audio and video are not accepted. We encourage authors to obtain permissions to use materials originally produced by others.
- The format of the references refers to GB/T 7714-2015 "reference information and literature cataloguing rules". Research papers should have about 15~40 references, review papers should have no less than 30 references. References from the last five years should account for half of the total. Bilingual control is required for Chinese references.
- If you are requested by the Editor to submit revisions for review, you can upload a revised version under “Author revising” section in the submission’s review page, specifically the “Upload Author Version” field. Also, you can send revised manuscripts to email xbbjb@jiangnan.edu.cn
- This journal uses double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vise versa, throughout the review process. To facilitate this, authors need to ensure that their manuscripts are prepared in a way that does not give away their identity. (References are not compensate for their reviews of submissions.)
- We don’t accept book reviews unless those who are invited to write one.
Style Guidelines
- All references should follow Chinese References Standards (GB/T 7714-2005).
- For example:
- WU Li-li, ROBERT Paul. Study on food development[J]. Food Science, 2021, 5(10): 21-25.
- Roman, 12 points
- Spacing: Multiple 1.5
- Margins: 2.54 top and bottom; 3.17 left and right sides
- All reviews should be submitted with American English spelling, rather than British English.
- Food & Machinery is a multi-disciplinary journal thus authors must communicate to a wide audience rather than just those within their own field. Language must, therefore, be direct and void of unnecessary jargon and technical terms.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission’s compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for publication consideration (or an explanation has been provided in “Comments to the Editor”).
- Journal of Food Science and Biotechnology checks submissions for plagiarism through CNKI Academic Misconduct Literature Check.
- All URL address in the text/references (e.g., http://cnki.net) are activated and ready to click.
- The text is 1.5 times-spaced; uses a 12-point font (Times Roman preferred); employ italics, rather than underlying (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate reference points, rather than at the end of article.
- The authors’ names, workplace and funding project should be removed before peer review process. The author’s name should also remove from the document’s properties, which in Microsoft Word is found in the File menu.
- Ensure there is no author information in the metadata of any of the files submitted. Remove acknowledgement, grant funding, or other author-related information from the manuscript. Check the figures for appearance of any author names.
When referring to your own work within the paper, consider the likelihood of someone being able to identify you from the the citation. Reduce that possibility by:
- Avoiding the first-person in association with any citation (e.g., replace “As we have shown (Jones, 2012)…” with “As Jones (2012) has shown…”).
- Avoid references to your own unpublished/in press work except where essential; where such work is cited, delete the authors’ name (i.e., cited as “Author, in…press”) and remove from the reference list.
- Avoid references that by implication identify the author (e.g., delete “This work is part of a larger grant project (Ibrahim, 2013, 2014)”).
- Avoid excessive self-citation.
- More generally, use common senses. Consider whether your writing has the potential to identify you to a reader who is an expert in the field; if it does, think about sensible ways to reduce that possibility.
